How we verify prices

Every price on this site is read from the provider's own pricing page on the date shown, recorded at full (non-promotional) list price, and re-verified at least quarterly. Quote-only providers are shown as labeled estimates from publicly reported quotes.

Where prices come from

Each provider's own US pricing page, read on the date shown on every page (November 2026). We record the base monthly fee and the per-employee monthly fee for each published plan. We do not use promotional prices; where a provider shows "50% off for 3 months," we record the full price.

How we estimate quote-only providers

ADP (RUN), Rippling and the upper Paychex tiers do not publish prices. For those we use the lowest published figure where one exists (Paychex Flex Essentials) and, otherwise, the midpoint of prices reported by businesses in published reviews and quote surveys over the prior 12 months. Estimates are always labeled "est." and shown with a dashed border in the price menu. They are a starting point for negotiation, not a quote.

What the calculator does

Monthly cost = base fee + (per-employee fee × employees). For ADP, which bills per pay run, we scale by pay runs per month relative to biweekly (4.33 weekly, 2.17 biweekly, 2 semimonthly, 1 monthly). The calculator excludes setup fees, year-end form fees, add-on modules and taxes.

How often we re-verify

Every price is re-checked at least quarterly and whenever a provider announces a change. The "verified" stamp on each page is the date of the last check.

Independence

We earn referral fees from providers when you request a quote. Fees do not influence prices shown, which are the providers' own, or the order of the price menu, which is sorted by cost. Our advertising disclosure has the details.
